State Street Gallery

State Street Gallery, in the heart of Madison Downtown, is located in the first block of State Street leading away from the Capitol building to the University of Wisconsin campus, 7 blocks away.
The gallery is located in the old Caputo Building built in 1857. It is made of stone and brick, has the initital pressed tin ceilings and the original maple floors. The floors creak when you walk and the ceiling fans move kinetic sculptures above your head.
Once you get into downtown Madison there are parking spaces on most streets. You cannot park on State Street, as it is a pedestrian mall, but there are parking garages every three blocks in any direction.
